We encourage businesses and nonprofits to list their events on the Claremont Calendar. And we don't mind if you "get creative" and stage events solely for the purpose of promoting your business or organization. However, we reserve the right to decide whether your event truly serves the interests of our audience and is therefore suitable to be published.
So, what qualifies as a Claremont Calendar event?
- To begin with, a Claremont Calendar event should be a suitable answer to the question: What's happening in and around Claremont? We give precedence to events that entertain, educate or inspire people, or enable them to participate in civic or community life.
- A Claremont Calendar event delivers a product, service or experience at a scheduled time -- not just any old time. So, for example, an invitation to stop by and explore the fine selection of children's titles at Mrs. Bee's Books would not qualify as a Claremont Calendar event, but "Story time at Mrs. Bee's Books, from 9-11 am on Saturdays" would qualify.
- A Claremont Calendar event delivers its product, service or experience in real time, not at some future date. So stopping in during business hours at Pamela's Pamper Palace to enter a raffle for a free makeover would not qualify as a Claremont Calendar event, but a "Pamper Party from 3-6 pm Thursday, featuring free 15-minute facials" would qualify.
- A Claremont Calendar event must be a departure from routine -- something that is not ordinarily available. Your restaurant may serve fantastic omelets seven days a week, but we won't list that as an event. On the other hand, if your chef will be hosting an "Omelet Eggstravaganza with omelets fixed to order using a variety of exotic ingredients from 9 to Noon on Sunday," then that would qualify.
